Purpose of Role
To provide exemplary, value added payroll services that meet the needs of internal stakeholders while maintaining operating practices and methodologies in an international environment. Ensure accurate and timely execution of payroll disbursements, actively manage external service providers and closely work with Corporate and Site Human Resource departments. Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties a. Independently performs daily and routine payroll activities and tasks, including but not limited to: i) Maintenance of new employee information as provided by Human Resources. ii) Stock option exercises and Restricted Share Unit redemptions. iii) Maintenance of Vacation hours accrued/taken. iv) Taxable benefits, including updating and calculation of retroactive adjustments where necessary. v) Group benefit deductions for employee paid premiums. vi) Maintenance of employee information in third party service providers’ systems. vii) Review outputs and deliverables from service providers to ensure accuracy and integrity of disbursements, transactions and reporting including statutory tax and income reporting. viii) Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reporting related to overall employee remuneration, including share based compensation. ix) Provide payroll based inputs to and assist in the annual and quarterly budget processes. b. Ensures employees are paid accurately and on time and remits taxes as per applicable jurisdictions. c. Establishes and implements payroll policies and procedures for Kinross Corporate entities and their affiliates. d. Expert in leading payroll practices for an international organization, including relevant law, compliance, tax obligations and general payroll structure. e. Acts as the main contact for third parties such as service providers, CRA, HRDC, and other government bodies for payroll-related matters. f. Participates in and supports the annual compensation review process. g. Analyzes and interprets information such as changes in specific jurisdictions regulations related to payroll. h. Researches information to support decision making and improve processes, technologies, or methodologies. i. Responds to a variety of internal and external requests related to payroll and compensation. j. Prepares required documents for the department, such as monthly, quarterly, and annual tax remittances, assist in head count budgeting and forecasts. k. Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve technical knowledge and skill sets. l. Other duties as required. Scope of Responsibility & Complexity Work is performed under general direction according to set methodologies and processes. Complexity of workload varies from routine, involving standard assignments, to complex involving adhoc initiatives. Services provided will include international and expatriate payroll administration and management of the payroll facing function of a detailed HRIS. In addition to the HRIS (JDE) the Analyst will also require the use of excel spreadsheets and other standard Office programs. Outcomes are reviewed in terms of adherence to general policies, accuracy of methods and general efficiency. Problem resolution involves using judgment to select methods and handle deviations from standard methods and practices. Work results are highly visible and impact the quality and integrity of results in the department and Company as a whole. Assistance for unusual situations is provided, however, primary responsibility remains with the Analyst. The position will be available to provide direction and guidance to stakeholders and always maintains a professional, value added, service organization focused unit. |

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirementsstandards that comply with external regulations and statutes.
Contribute to the design and development of payroll processes, Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources or related field. PCP or CPM designation preferred. 4-6 years of related work experience. Possess strong computer skills, and intermediate knowledge of Excel. Experience with accounting for payroll, including journal entries. JDE and experience with third party payroll service providers an asset. International payroll, including expatriates and multi-company experience an asset. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and determine appropriate dissemination of confidential information. Additional Qualifications & Skill Requirements Sound knowledge of payroll policies, practices and procedures. Sound knowledge of Employment Standards Act and payroll related legislation. Ability to perform and manage day-to-day payroll activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing and reporting of payroll. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines. Experience auditing payroll systems and processes. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Strong communication (both verbal and written) skills. Attention to detail. #LI-MS |
