JOB SUMMARY:  (Brief description)
Responsible for mapping "dig faces" and highwall exposures in open pit mines, mapping (logging)
blast hole patterns and structural zones, integrate geologic data into grade control program, and
guide shovel and loader operators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (specific duties and responsibilities)
1. Log blast hole cuttings.    
2. Prepare geologic and alteration maps of dig faces and highwall exposures.    
3. Map structural features and rock quality characteristics and analyze data to determine highwall    
 stability.  Develop a predictive geotechnical model for the mine.    
4. Advise mine operations personnel and engineering staff of potential highwall stability problems.    
5. Monitor blast hole sampling protocol and blast hole assaying.  Revise sampling procedures as needed    
 to ensure that representative samples are collected.  Develop a QA/QC program for blast hole    
 assaying.    
6. Perform grade control responsibilities.    
7. Work with loading unit operators and mine supervisors at the dig face to guide mining and minimize    
 mining dilution.    
8. Consult with metallurgical staff on geologic/mineralogical characteristics of ore that may impact mill    
 recoveries.    
9. Interface with Senior Geologist to refine and update reserve and resource models based on geologic    
 and geochemical data from mapping and grade control sampling.    
10. Undertake other duties associated with the safe and efficient operation of open pit mines.    
11. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.    
12. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety,    
 confidentiality and environmental policies.    
13. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management. 
14. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.    
15. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.    
16. Maintain accurate records and files.    
17. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance.    

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.    

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
1. Bachelor of Science degree or higher in geology required.    
2. Minimum of two years as a mine geologist in open pit mines preferred.    
3. Exposure to grade control for gold mining.    
4. Must have a sound background in sampling theory for gold and assay techniques.    
5. Have a strong commitment to safe working practices.    
6. A working knowledge of mining equipment, especially blast hole drills.    
7. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.    
8. Sound working knowledge and skill with a P.C. utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs.    
 Knowledge of Medsystem / MineSight software would be a plus.    
9. Demonstrate strong administrative as well as organizational skills.    
10. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all    
 levels of employees and management.    
11. Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
