Job Summary

Under the direction of the Store Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for providing excellent customer service and a clean, orderly, and friendly atmosphere for customers while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.
 
Essential Functions

1.    Provides courteous customer service at all times, handles minor customer complaints, and reports them to the store supervisor or key.
2.    Is safety conscious at all times. Participates in monthly safety meetings, and reports unsafe working conditions to the store supervisors.
3.    Completes all cash register transactions accurately and precisely with WIC and welfare checks, coupons, rain checks, refunds, etc.
4.    Knows store layout, prices, and ads.
5.    Receives payment from customer for purchases and makes change.   Bags customer purchases in such a manner that damages are avoided.
6.    Responsible and accountable for cash register bank.   Counts, balances and turns in bank at completion of each shift.
7.    Maintains a neat and clean work area including cash register and check stand.   Keeps checkstand supplies stocked.   At the end or a shift, returns unpurchased merchandise to shelves and properly stores damaged items in back room.
8. Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking invoice against items received.
9.    Stocks storage areas and displays with new or transferred merchandise.
10.  Sets up advertising signs and displays with merchandise on shelves, counters, or tables to attract customers and promote sales.
11.  Cleans display cases, shelves, and aisles.   Faces shelves and rotates stock appropriately.
12.  Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
13.  Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
14.  Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
15.  Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
16.  Works without risk or harm to self and others.
17.  Punctuality and regular attendance required.
18.  Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

1.    Must have good customer service skills.
2.    Must be able to count money and change.
3.    Must be able to multitask, and deal with customer complaints.
4.    Previous experience in grocery or retail sales is preferred.
5.    Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
6.    General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
7.    Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
8.    Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
9.    Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
10.  Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
11.  Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
12.  Requires valid driver’s license.
