Fully owned by Kinross, the Kupol mine consists of an underground operation. It is located in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug of the Far East Region of the Russian Federation. The Kupol mine consists of a high-grade gold and silver vein.

1. To oversee activities related to a system, program, or process in mine engineering
a. Independently handles the analyses and design of mine architecture and sequencing of work through the end of the life of mine.
b. Makes recommendations to the Senior Planning Engineer on long-term options for mine development
c. Monitors the implications of work progress on long-term plans; makes recommendations on appropriate adjustments to long-term plans
d. Proposes new work approaches, methods, and policies to optimize performance and to ensure adherence to industry regulations and organizational standards within mine engineering and planning
e. Contributes to the development of policies and practices related to mine engineering and planning
f. Keeps on top of trends related to mine engineering and incorporates this information into work assignments and approach
g. Monitors costs related to mine engineering and implements approved recommendations for maximizing operational efficiencies
h. Assigns tasks to less experienced employees and provides mentorship and guidance on complex or escalated issues
i. Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve product or technical knowledge and skills
j. Participates in task forces related to mine engineering and planning
k. Reviews the preparation of short-term mine plans and schedules, and the integration with long-term plans
2. To analyze information and prepare technical documents to support decision making
a. Investigates, researches, and analyzes information and issues related to mine engineering
b. Prepares business cases regarding projects and initiatives and presents recommendations and status updates to key stakeholders
c. Prepares technical reports and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and operational requirements
d. Uses mine planning software to create long-term mine plans, including the Life of Mine Plan, Annual, Quarterly, and Monthly Mine plans
3. To communicate information related to mine engineering
a. Assists with training and skill development on technical issues in mine engineering
b. Provides information on operating standards, compliance requirements, and policies
University degree or diploma in Mining engineering
Additional specialized education of up to 4 years 
Formal professional or technical designation in an appropriate area of expertise 
5 years of related work experience 
Previous work experience in Mine Planning role in gold mining or narrow vein mining operations
Sound understanding of mine engineering and mine planning
Knowledge of mine planning software (Micromine or Studio 5D Planner) or the ability to learn mine planning software quickly
In-depth understanding of Kinross’ processes a definite asset
Previous experience in the NI 43-101 and/or JORC standards are preferred
Ability to read, write communicate in english, desirable to have ability to read write communicate in Russian
Previous experience writing technical reports
Ability to learn quickly
Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets
