Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.

Purpose of the role: 
  
Providing analytical and implementation support to Business Improvement function to ensure the implementation of Business Improvement initiatives, methodologies, strategies and associated techniques/technology for delivery of substantial cost reductions and efficiency improvements . 
  
Key areas of responsibility and duties: 
  
a.        Effective analytical support is provided for the Business Improvement function and Dept. CI teams 
Act as BI team's primary resource for accessing relevant production and cost data 
Provide fact-base analysis to help BI team identify priorities, solve root-causes and identify significant cost saving ideas 
Directly assist Dept. CI teams to structure and execute analysis 
Coach Dept. CI teams to greatly improve analytical skills 
Troubleshoot malfunctioning tools and reports 
Provide analytic support for weekly reviews and for updates to relevant departments 
Maintain the team's database of Ideas and oversee tracking of all ideas 
  
b.       Effective implementation support is provided for the Business Improvement function 
Coach Dept. CI teams and quality check work plans for ideas 
Assist Dept. with any analytical requirements to implement ideas 
Coach Dept. CI teams to set up benefit tracking for new ideas 
Develop automated tools for wiring (scorecards, results charts) 
  
c.        Promote CI methodology and analytical skills of the operation 
Gain expert understanding of key Improvement concepts and tools 
Gain solid understanding of key implementation skills from CI superintendent 
Improve skills through use/participation (e.g. driver tree, idea forms, IGSs) 
Improve implementation skills through direct role with Departments 
Coach Dept. CI teams on the above and promote CI benefits across site 
  
d.       Coach and support HoDs in driving improvements in their departments 
Direct analysis to evaluate and confirm opportunites and priorities 
Facilitate and coach the preparation of workhshops to define priorites and improvement ideas 
Advise on resources and support needed to pursue opportunites 
  
f.         Ensure sustainability of CI process at Tasiast 
Conduct periodic audits of meetings and application of key CI tools 
Flag issues and identify solutions to resolve 
Implement changes and set up structured tracking to ensure adequate follow-up 
Ensure sustainability is factored into all ideas and wiring improvements in the department 
Identify conformance / deviation in improved and existing processes, and suggest improvements 
  
g.        Establish and maintain trusted advisor and coach relationship with Business Improvement stakeholders 
Establish good relationship with stakeholders 
Build credibility though consistent high-quality analytics and attention to detail 
Maintain a client service focused approach with Depts. 
  
h.       Maintain effective communication channels and networks 
Provide continuous feedback regarding the level to which stakeholders’ requirements are met 
Create presentations to be used in summaries of findings, specific updates and monthly meetings 
Open communication and feedback channels - employees to participate in problem solving and decision making 
Networking - utilize/involve relevant people and business contacts 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
 
Ambitious young technical engineer with high-potential and a desire for a career in CI
Bachelor’s degree in mining, chemical, or metallurgical engineering, accounting, finance or a related field  
Two (2) years experience in continuous improvement, analytical, or industrial role
 
ROLE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES 
 
Excellent computer skill set. Microsoft Office suite especially Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skill set
Ability to extract data from a variety of platforms and use in Excel, Access and/or Minitab 
Strong understanding of financial statements and mining concepts
Attention to detail
Works well independently and in team settings
Possesses good time-management skills, and is able to work effectively under pressure
Analytical thinking
Ability to break down problems into components
Understanding of mining business process
Interpersonal skills and relationship building
