Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.


To coordinate activities related to the operation and execution of the sites Mine Dispatch Systems (more specifically, Modular Dispatch, CAT Terrain for Drilling systems and MMRS – MIS mine reporting system).  To contribute to the design and development of processes, practices and reporting methodologies within the mine operations team as it relates to the Mine Dispatch.  To ensure continued growth of the team and to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability.

 Key Areas of Responsibility and Duties

 To coordinate activities related to Mine Dispatch

 •    Independently implements processes, policies, systems, and practices within mine dispatch that contribute to effective reporting of mine operations processes
•    Analyzes and interprets information in reference to mine operations
•    Researches information to support decision making and improve processes, technologies or methodologies
•    Contributes to the development of policies and practices in the mine planning department 
•    Prepares communication materials, manuals and other written materials related to technical issues, programs or systems
•    Keeps on top of trends related to mine operations and incorporates this information into work assignments
•    Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve product or technical knowledge and skill set

Collaborates with senior management to identify and analyze production requirements and the implications for the team; identifies gaps and implements agreed upon solutions.
•    Designs and implement production reports as required by mine operations and technical services
•    Produce at required intervals, mine production statistics, evaluate trends and recommend corrective courses of             action.
•    Supervises the mine dispatch team
•    Maintains and updated the dispatch system software in conjunction with the Vendor as required
•    Maintains all dispatch system databases
•    Co-ordinates the hardware repairs as required with mine maintenance departments
•    Manages the vendor service agreement and ensures all services are being met
•    Performs system administration tasks for the “dispatch” system
•    Provides training in the use of the “dispatch” system

 To lead and manage a team responsible for executing mine planning strategy
•    Identifies strategies and key performance goals and acts as an advisor to direct reports; works to overcome                  challenges and barriers and minimize risk
•    Sets performance targets and measures, monitors, and manages overall performance of the team and direct reports
•    Identifies key performance measures for the team; monitors and reports on the achievement of targets and revises        strategies as needed
•    Builds the capabilities of the team to enhance their ability to achieve financial and operating strategy; hires                    appropriately, leverages the talents of the team, and takes corrective action where necessary

•    Technical qualification in Mining or Computer Sciences
•    Sound project management, contract/vendor and budget management skills
•    5 years of related work experience in a dispatch environment and be familiar with Modular Mining. Minestar, Wenco,           or Micromine System; and a related reporting system
•    Previous experience in the mining industry is a must
•    Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets
•    Knowledge of engineering techniques as they apply to and mine operations
•    Strong communication skills, a working knowledge of, computer applications, mine design,  mine equipment                       capabilities, and production rates
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, and Sequel Server Database Applications
•    High level of English required; French and or Arabic are a plus
