Kinross Round Mountain is an open pit mining operation located in Nye County, Nevada. Round Mountain is proud to have earned commendations for its safety and environmental initiatives.

Work as part of the team of environmental technicians under the direction of an Environmental Engineer or Superintendent to assist with various sampling, monitoring, and data collection activities.   These activities must be conducted in accordance with company requirements and in compliance with state and federal regulations, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.   This is a summer temporary position that has the opportunity for learning new skills through on-the-job training.  
 
Essential Functions

1.   Effectively communicate with the environmental team and site personnel to maximize informational exchange and environmental compliance.
2.   Conduct all activities in accordance with environmental and safety rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures, including confidentiality and code of conduct.
3.   Work without risk or harm to self and others.
4.   Conduct accurate sampling and monitoring in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.  
5.   Ensure that data collected is reliable and accurately entered into tracking documents.
6.   Provide assistance to the environmental team for various aspects of environmental sampling and monitoring, including:
  a.   Air, water, soil, and leak detection
  b.   Data collection and data entry 
  c.    Documentation
  d.   Materials management program
  e.   Wildlife protection and management
  f.     Spill remediation
  g.   Other tasks or functions as assigned by supervisor.
7.   Punctuality and regular attendance required.

1.   Moderate degree of mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills (e.g. determine cause of equipment malfunction and conduct minor repairs using hand tools or items such as battery replacement).
2.   Able to spend significant portion of workday outside in the field in a production environment and work overtime as needed.
3.   Able to work outside in all weather conditions on a regular basis.
4.   Able to meet requirements for and use a respirator (if necessary).
5.   Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. over short distances.
6.   Ability to work independently and as a member of the environmental team.
7.   Mathematical knowledge and ability at an algebraic level.
8.   College-level science class experience preferred.
9.   General understanding of mining operations preferred.
10.   Previous experience performing sampling and/or monitoring preferred.
11.   Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
12.   General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
13.   Working knowledge and skill utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
14.   Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
15.   Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
16.   Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
17.   Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
18.   Requires valid driver’s license.
