Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.

This role is estimated for one year and the incumbent will be working on rotation from Mauritania to Home country.

Purpose of Role 
   
To provide complex technical support to the power generation and power distribution networks. To follow established policies, practices, and procedures when completing work assignments. To provide work direction to a team of electrical and power plant men 
  
·          Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely implementation of all energy savings activities related to power generation and distribution 
·          Execute daily routine work according to policies and procedures within prescribed guidelines e.g. ensuring a planned energy efficient maintenance system is achieved 
·          Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to energy management, while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches 
·          Assists with special projects related to use of energy efficient products 
·          Provides an analysis of work outcomes with guidance from an immediate supervisor and / or a mentor 
·          May mentor or train less experienced employees on energy standards, procedures, and methods 
·          Assigns crews and equipment to specific tasks in order to meet energy maintenance goals 
  ·          Addresses queries and resolves technical issues for internal customers while ensuring service standards are met 
·          Ensures internal customers comply with company policy and procedures and regulations in energy management 
·          Provides training to internal customers as needed and coaching the E/I employees 
·          Works closely with power plant and high voltage team to help meet production goals 
·          Directs the activities of maintenance electrical and instrumentation men 
·          Acts as a communication linchpin with the team and models the organization’s values 
·          Contributes to the development and revision of policies and procedures  
  Performs other duties as required 
  
Minimum Education and Experience:    
3 – 5 years of related work experience, including previous energy management experience in a  Gold processing plant environment Complete knowledge of the principles within energy management English and French proficiency.    Must read and write 

  EDUCATION 

College or technical training equivalent to 3 years of study in electrical discipline low voltage and HV including energy management EXPERIENCE 
·          Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred 
·          Ability to adapt and  learn quickly 
·          Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets 
·          Experience in a computerized maintenance software (JDE) is an asset 
  
SKILLS 
  Complete knowledge required to perform this job 
  Relevant computer literacy 
· Good communicator 

Physical Demands & Work Environment 

Able to work safely in a mining environment subject to loud noise, vibration, dust and diesel exhaust, heat, and insect and water born health hazards. 
Capable of carrying 20 kilograms for extended distances. 
Capable of wearing appropriate safety equipment for long periods.
