Kinross Round Mountain is an open pit mining operation located in Nye County, Nevada. Round Mountain is proud to have earned commendations for its safety and environmental initiatives.

Under the direction of the Senior Hydrologist, the candidate is responsible for the daily functions of the pit-dewatering program while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.
 
Essential Functions

1.   Monitor the performance of existing dewatering wells.
2.   Collect of data from monitor wells to evaluate changes in the peizometric surface.
3.   Supervise the design, construction, development, testing and rehabilitation of water and monitor wells.
4.   Plan and coordinate well locations, water line design and routing, and schedule rerouting dewatering systems with the planning engineers, maintenance and mine operations.
5.   Plan and implement drilling of horizontal drains to relieve pore pressure from the pit wall and enhance wall stability.
6.   Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
7.   Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
8.   Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
9.   Works without risk or harm to self and others.
10.   Punctuality and regular attendance required.
11.   Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
12.   Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

1.   Must have the ability to plan, coordinate and schedule time to achieve overall objectives.
2.   Bachelor’s Degree in a Geologic or Engineering-related field.
3.   A minimum of three to five years’ experience in geohydrology or water well management.
4.   Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
5.   General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
6.   Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing AutoCAD, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
7.   Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
8.   Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
9.   Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
10.   Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
11.   Requires valid driver’s license.
