The Kinross Corporate Head Office is located in downtown Toronto and supports Kinross operations and projects worldwide. Corporate functions include Finance, Procurement, Health & Safety, Human Resources, IT and Investor Relations.

The role of Analyst, Operations Strategy is to: Support the assessment phase and implementation of performance improvement projects:
Support the assessment phase and analyze existing information in order to identify and prioritize areas of opportunity.
Work collaboratively with site personnel and corporate functions to develop action plans to execute on opportunities.
Support the implementation of action plans.
When necessary, support implementation of a governance structure, communication plan, and/or tracking mechanisms to ensure results are achieved.
Effectively communicate findings, progress and challenges to site and corporate management as required.
Assist in the ongoing development of Kinross’ global procedures, guidelines and best practices for the corporate Operations Strategy team’s projects and initiatives
Provide analytical and other mine-site support in the implementation of these initiatives. Assist with business case development:
Assist with the development of business cases for investment decisions, including preparation and/or validation of analysis to ensure accuracy.
Ensure alignment between site and regional teams on all aspects of the business case.
Ensure high quality, on time submissions. Support strategic initiatives within the function:
Support the Operations Strategy in developing and executing global, regional, or site specific strategies (e.g. Kinross Way, Global Strategic Business Planning, Regional long term strategy, etc.)
Support other departments (e.g. Technical Services, Supply Chain, etc.) in the development and execution of departmental, global, or regional strategies. Support may include facilitating workshops, performing analysis, developing frameworks, etc. Work closely with the Projects group in completing Scoping, Pre-feasibility, or Feasibility studies:
Provide analytical support and input into the assumptions used in the studies (e.g. mine opex, processing opex). Work closely with the projects team in developing and finalizing inputs for select sections of the studies.
Liaise with site personnel and outside consultants to perform detailed reviews of the select sections of the studies. If required perform internal and external benchmarking exercises to validate the reasonability of the assumptions.

Education
Undergraduate university degree in an analytical discipline. Mining engineering or processing/metallurgy preferred, but allowance will be made for other engineering or highly analytical disciplines (e.g., Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics). Experience
2-4 years of experience in a related capacity or capacities (like other mining company, investment bank or consulting company) Experience and proven success working with senior personnel, including teams within both highly technical, operational, and financial functions.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in detailed operational and/or financial analysis and modeling.
A minimum of 1 year of site level operations/engineering experience (preferably for an international company and preferably mining is an asset. Skills
Strong analytical capabilities (Excel) and attention to detail.
Highly collaborative work style in working with highly skilled corporate, regional and mine site staff (both technical and financial) using influence skills rather than formal reporting authority
Team player, ability to interact effectively in teams either as a leader or team member.
Strong communication skills in presentation development, oral communication and other documentation.
Strong project management skills and ability to multitask.
Language skills in Russian, French, Arabic, Portuguese or Spanish are assets.
Preference is also given to candidates with international experience.
Must be open to travel, as this role will periodically require time at site. Travel can range from short business trips to occasional travel to site for longer periods of time.
