Purpose of the role:
To ensure the sustainable business improvement and cost saving of the mine through providing high-quality functional and technical support and advice to CI teams embedded in the departments and driving implementation of key business improvement projects across site. Key areas of responsibility and duties: a. Provide effective methodology and functional support is for the Continuous Improvement Dept. Act as BI team's primary resource for coaching and advising Dept. CI teams Provide thought partnership to help BI team identify priorities, solve root-causes and identify significant cost saving ideas Complete Value Driver Trees and other value estimation analysis Facilitate problem solving and definition exercises with dept. teams b. Help evaluate and accelerate implementation for new ideas and wiring improvements Facilitate meetings with Subject Mater Experts in the line to understand issues and risks Coach CI teams to develop specific and measurable work plans with meaningful milestones Work with Dept CI team to quality check and accelerate the completion of all elements of idea forms Identify and troubleshoot delays to implementation with the CI teams c. Drive the application of Tasiast CI methodology in the department Gain expert understanding of key Improvement concepts and tools and coach Line CI teams Deliver CI training courses for Line CI teams Improve users skills in CI tools through use and hands-on coaching (e.g. driver tree, idea forms, IGSs) Communicate the advantages and benefits of CI methodology and build support for structured approach to CI d. Coach and support HoDs in driving improvements in their departments Provide thought partnership with HoDs and Dept CI Leads to identify and prioritize opportunities in the departments Direct analysis to evaluate and confirm opportunities Facilitate and coach the preparation of workshops to define priorities and improvement ideas Advise on resources and support needed to pursue opportunities e. Drive urgency and rapid pace when implementing improvements Highlight ideas that are under/over performing to the rest of team Gather data / observations on success of ideas in the field Identify conformance / deviation in improved and existing processes, and suggest improvements Facilitate cross-department cooperation on implementing improvements f. Ensure sustainability of CI process at Tasiast Conduct periodic audits of meetings and application of key CI tools Flag issues and identify solutions to resolve Implement changes and set up structured tracking to ensure adequate follow-up Ensure sustainability is factored into all ideas and wiring improvements in the department g. Maintain effective communication channels and networks Provide continuous feedback regarding the level to which stakeholders’ requirements are met Create presentations to be used in summaries of findings, specific updates and monthly meetings Open communication and feedback channels - employees to participate in problem solving and decision making Networking - utilize/involve relevant people and business contacts h. Perform Continuous Improvement on the mine’s CI process Identify systematic reasons for delay in value realization Initiate analysis and facilitate workshops to develop improvements to core tools and application at site |

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experienced CI professional with proven capability to get work done and deliver results Bachelor’s degree in mining, chemical, or metallurgical engineering, accounting, finance or a related field Two (2) years experience in continuous improvement role Experience at the supervisory level 10-12 years industry experience ROLE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Strong influencing skills at HoD and Superintendent level (mandatory) Leadership in driving operations performance Understanding of mining business process Facilitation of large group meetings Business acumen Sound financial judgment Interpersonal skills and relationship building Customer orientated Communication and negotiation skills Project Management skills Analytical thinking Ability to break down problems into components Team orientation (ability to work in a team) Results oriented, excellent organizational skills Effective at coaching line personnel #LI-JJ |
