Role Group: Professional Level: 3
Purpose of Role The Senior HR Generalist / HR Business Partner independently handles activities related to HR systems, programs and processes as they relate to the Kinross Corporate Office including, but not limited to: employee relations, payroll, benefit administration, compensation, onboarding, offboarding, training and development, HRIS, recruitment, compliance, policy, procedures, immigration and relocation. This role is also responsible for ensuring HR service and operating standards are met both internally and externally, demonstrating professionalism and expertise in all actions. Key Areas of Responsibilities and Duties Analyzes and interprets information related to HR activities, ensuring accurate reports and analyses are completed as required. Interprets needs, determines requirements and identifies solutions to various HR matters (ie: policy changes, vacation entitlement analysis, benefit reviews and improvements, exit interview analysis, etc). Researches information to support decision making and improve processes. Stays current on best practices and trends related to HR and incorporates this information into work assignments / improves products or services within HR. Contributes to the development of HR policies and practices. Prepares communications, manuals, presentations, and other written materials related to various HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations. Works with members of the HR team to ensure annual communication calendar is prepared, draft initial communications are approved, and employee information is distributed on a timely basis. Contributes to and administers the annual performance and compensation process for the Corporate Office, including annual performance reviews, year-end compensation reviews, compensation planning and execution, talent management and succession management. Manages corporate immigration and relocation. Participates in recruitment for corporate employees, including permanent, contract, temporary and student staff. Facilitates and / or provides training to employees and supervisors throughout the year (including orientation, compensation, performance management, HR system training, one-on-one training with senior leaders as required, etc). Conducts corrective action, performance improvement and/or termination meetings with employees as needed. Reviews and administers benefits, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payments and communicating benefits information to employees. Maintains HRIS records, company employee records and files, and other legislatively-required files (benefits, pension, etc) ensuring confidentiality and completeness. Coordinates the off-boarding process for terminated employees. Conducts exit interviews as required. Works with the Total Rewards Manager to create, analyze and approve salary recommendations for new employees and promotions. Builds and manages relationships with employees within HR, and from different functions across the organization, including senior leadership. Represents the company with third-party stakeholders (government, vendors, potential employees, contractors, students, etc). Liaises with third-party providers to develop employee sessions (lunch and learns, health and wellness sessions, benefit and retirement education sessions, etc). Contributes to the roll-out and training of new HRIS systems i.e. Performance Management, Compensation and Learning Management Systems. Actively seeks mentorship and learning opportunities to improve technical knowledge and skill set. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience, provides work direction/mentoring to more junior team members. |

Required Qualifications Education University or diploma in Business, Commerce, Human Resources, or related discipline. Additional specialized education of up to 2 years. Professional in Human Resources (CHRP, PHR, SPHR) certification preferred. Experience 6-10 years of related work experience. Previous experience working as an HR Generalist / HR Manager capacity in a global and/or public organization will be considered an asset. Complete understanding of Human Resources Strong knowledge of Canadian provincial employment legislation required. Previous experience in the mining industry would be an asset. Skills Ability to organize and prioritize work, work at a fast pace, meet demanding deadlines, and work with changing priorities is vital to success in this role. Superior attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills. Proven professionalism dealing with co-workers, other employees, third-party vendors and other stakeholders. Ability to influence and interact with senior leaders throughout the organization. Ability to learn quickly and independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written). Ability to work and make decisions independently, supporting company guidelines and procedures. Demonstrated proficiency using HRIS systems is required (experience with SuccessFactors, JD Edwards, Kenexa BrassRing, Great West Life GroupNet, Solium, and/or ManuLife.ca will be considered an asset).
