Purpose of Role
To provide complex technical support and managerial oversight for the Tasiast Site Water systems. To ensure alignment of Operations, Environmental, Maintenance, Projects and end users by following established policies, practices, and procedures. To provide direction and act as a conduit to a diverse team through auditable engineering practices and techniques. It is critical to this role the efficient transfer of knowledge to the local Mauritanian staff ensuring rigorous performance management is implemented as well as succession and development plans are in place with the aim of attaining Kinross Mauritanisation objectives. The incumbent in this role leads a water utilities engineering team at the senior engineer level and reports to Tasiast Utilities Manager. Key Areas of Responsibilities and Duties Responsible for ensuring an accurate site water balance is developed and updated monthly Execute daily management routines according to policies and procedures within prescribed guidelines e.g. ensuring all work planned conforms to Tasiast site permitting Ensures compliance with established methodologies and World Health Organization standards for water distribution Assists with all projects related to water pumping, distribution, storage or consumption Provides an analysis and reporting of water samples taken with appropriate remediation if required. Must mentor or train less experienced water systems engineers and employees Assists in the development of water treatment systems for potable water use at Tasiast Addresses queries and resolves technical issues for internal customers while ensuring water standards, set by the World Health Organization are constantly met Ensures internal and external customers comply with company policy, procedures and regulations in all aspects of water use Provides training to internal customers as needed Works closely with the Project Development Groups to ensure accurate information is disseminated relating to water systems at Tasiast Directs the activities of other Services Groups personnel if required Acts as a communication linchpin with the team and models all organization’s values Contributes to the development and revision of policies and procedures Other managerial duties as required The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. |

Education
College Degree or University accreditation in process engineering or chemical engineering preferred Experience 5 – 10 years of related work experience, including previous water management experience in a utility plant or remote processing plant environment Previous experience in mining at a remote location is an asset Knowledge and Skills Complete knowledge of the principles of water reticulation. Complete water operations knowledge required to perform this job Water pumping / distribution plant operation an asset English and French proficiency required Good communicator: excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be able to communicate to all levels of management Ability to adapt and learn quickly Experience in a computerized maintenance software (JDE) is an asset Ability to budget for a large scale utility organization as well as work within the approved budget Relevant computer literacy Ability to lead multi-discipline teams Must be extremely customer oriented Other Job is based in Tasiast mine on a 10/4 rotation schedule to Las Palmas, Spain. Must be able to enter and reside in Spain. Mauritanian work permit required #LI-JJ |
