Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.

Purpose of Role
To provide complex technical planning support to the utilities operations / maintenance teams and to the earthworks / roads maintenance teams. To established planning schedules consistent with existing policies, practices, and procedures.  To provide work direction and development to a team of Site Services planners and coordinators
It is critical to this role the efficient transfer of knowledge to the local Mauritanian staff ensuring rigorous performance management is implemented as well as succession and development plans are in place with the aim of attaining Kinross Mauritanisation objectives.
Reports to Tasiast Utilities Manager and supervises  a team of planners Global Role Profile
Key Areas of Responsibilities and Duties
• Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely implementation of all scheduling and budgeting requirements for a diverse team. 
• Execute daily planning and meeting routines according to policies and procedures within prescribed guidelines e.g. ensuring a planned utilities and earthworks system is achieved
• Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to planning management, while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches
• Assists with special projects related to any site services
• Provides and reports on analysis of work outcomes while providing guidance to supervisors and / or a mentor
• Perform team management functions including hiring employees, assigning goals and conducting performance and reviews and facilitating development activities, identifying successors and directing career development of team members, administering disciplinary action, all  in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.
• Must mentor less experienced employees on planning practices to ensure compliance with Kinross operations standards
• Assigns crews and equipment to specific tasks in order to meet site service department goals and KPI’s
• Other duties as required, including travel to Spain and / or Canada frequently to support project related works
• Addresses queries and resolves technical issues for internal customers while ensuring service standards are met
• Ensures internal customers comply with company policy and procedures
• Provides training to internal customers as needed in planning, work orders, budget, KPI’s and safety standards
• Works closely with the entire site services team to help meet production goals
• Directs the activities of all site services planning teams
• Acts as a communication linchpin with the team and models the organization’s values
• Contributes to the development and revision of policies and procedures

Required Qualifications
Education
• Formal college education plus technical training at the university level Experience
• Minimum 7 – 10 years of related work experience, including previous planning experience in a Gold processing plant environment Knowledge and Skills
• Complete knowledge of the principles within planning and budgeting,
• English and French proficiency required
• Good communicator: excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to communicate to all levels of management and present logical and understandable planning details
• Ability to adapt and  learn quickly
• Experience in a computerized maintenance software (JDE) is an asset
• Complete planning knowledge as required to perform this job
• Relevant computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Project, and JDE
• Must be able to lead a multi-discipline team effectively and efficiently
• Must be driven to mentor an individual (national) to ultimately take over and eliminate this expat position.
Other
• Job is based in Tasiast mine on a 10/4 rotation schedule to Las Palmas, Spain.  Must be able to enter and reside in Spain.
• Mauritanian work permit required
