Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.

Purpose of Role
To provide complex technical support and managerial leadership to the Site Utilities Water, Power and Infrastructure Operations and Maintenance sections. To ensure teams follow established policies, practices, and procedures when completing work assignments. To provide work direction to a diverse team of water, infrastructure, electrical and power plant teams. It is critical to this role the efficient transfer of knowledge to the local Mauritanian staff ensuring rigorous performance management is implemented as well as succession and development plans are in place with the aim of attaining Kinross Mauritanisation objectives. This role reports to Tasiast Site Services Manager and leads a team of expats and national superintendents, supervisors and other staff. Key Areas of Responsibilities and DutiesExecutes daily management routines according to policies and procedures within prescribed guidelines e.g. ensuring a planned work schedule exists and is followed by each superintendent / supervisor
Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to energy generation, energy management, water production, water distribution and infrastructure operations and maintenance while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches
Assists with special projects related to the use of any / all site services
Provides an analysis of work outcomes while providing guidance to an immediate superintendent, supervisor and / or a mentor
Must mentor or train less experienced superintendents / supervisors on standards, procedures, and methods of Utility Operations / Maintenance
Aligns crews and equipment to specific projects in order to meet department goals
Addresses queries and resolves technical issues for internal customers while ensuring service standards are constantly met
Ensures internal customers comply with company policy and procedures and regulations in all aspects of Utilities Operations / Maintenance
Perform team management functions including hiring employees, assigning goals and conducting performance and reviews and facilitating development activities, identifying successors and directing career development of team members, administering disciplinary action, all  in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.
Provides training to internal customers as needed and coaching the Site Services Teams
Works closely with power plant, high voltage, water production, water distribution teams to help meet production goals
Directs the activities of Site Services Superintendents / Supervisors
Acts as a communication linchpin with the team and models the organization’s values
Contributes to the development and revision of policies and procedures
Acts as Site Services Manager in his absence.
Other managerial duties as required The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
Education
College Degree or University accreditation in electrical engineering or mineral processing preferred
Formal professional or technical registration in appropriate area of expertise Experience
10 – 15 years of related work experience, including previous power / water management experience in a utility plant or remote Gold processing plant environment
Supervisory experience required
Previous experience in mining at a remote location is preferred
Must read and write fluently and must be able to communicate to all levels of management Skills
Utility plant operation and maintenance an asset. Complete utility operations knowledge required to perform this job.  Complete knowledge of the principles within power, water and utility networking
English and French proficiency required
Ability to adapt and  learn quickly
Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets
Knowledge and experience in a computerized maintenance software (ideally JDE) is an asset
Ability to budget for a large scale utility organization as well as work within the approved budget
Relevant computer literacy: strong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & MS Project.
Good communicator: excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must read and write fluently and must be able to communicate to all levels of management
Ability to lead multi-discipline teams
Must be extremely customer oriented Other
Job is based in Tasiast mine on a 10/4 rotation schedule to Las Palmas, Spain.  Must be able to enter and reside in Spain.
Mauritanian work permit required
