The purpose of this position is:
Train Millwrights to be fully competent in all tasks and sub tasks required by a Tasiast Millwright.  The instruction takes place in classrooms and training workshops and the competencies are verified through equipment and component service and repair conducted on-the-job.  Develop instruction and test material to support Tasiast Millwright programs, following curricula development procedures.  Where appropriate, counsel and coach individual learners.  Meet
or exceed Tasiast/Kinross Safety, health, and environmental standards .  Contribute as a member of a large team of
educational professionals, at all times demonstrating those behaviors that fully support Training and Development Department (T&D) values, as well as Kinross Gold Corporation and Tasiast Mauritanie policies and procedures. 

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are
1.             Demonstrate behaviors that match T&D values, follow and apply Tasiast Health/Safety/Environmental policies and procedures, in order to be a role model for development program participants.
2.             Demonstrate competence in the principles and application of competency based learning, so that development programs delivered and assessed meet T&D standards.
3.             Professionally design and deliver/facilitate Millwright training to meet T&D customer development needs and quality standards.
4.             Lead others in setting up training workshops and classrooms which meet Tasiast requirements and which will support both training and production.  
5.             Understand and  competently apply professionally accepted principles of adult learning so that learners are given maximum opportunity to develop job competence.
6.             Assist in the creation competency based assessment tools, professionally conduct on and off the job competency Millwright assessments to ensure assessment standards are met.
7.             Assist in scheduling and communicating learning programs, follow schedules to ensure that programs are delivered as planned.
8.             Accurately record and report participant learning and assessment results so that participants’ records are consistently kept up to date and recorded in the company learning management system.
9.             Respond to customer learning and development requirements, provide Millwright technical support and advice in order to assist T&D meet/exceed customer expectations.

2.             Establishing professional Millwright quality and quantity standards which meet Tasiast’s present and future skill requirements.
3.             Managing learning situations that vary from "one on one" coaching to group delivery, and teaching others to operate in similar environments.
4.             Establishing a workplace culture in which safety is completely integrated.
5.             Sensitively and professionally work with learners from a wide range of cultures

areas of technical instruction expertise needed for this position are:
Minimum
Education and Experience
1.             Occupational Skills – Plan and
organize work, care and use of tools and equipment, and use of parts and
service manuals.
2.             Alignment & Leveling
3.             Hydraulic, Hydrostatic and Pneumatic
Systems – Diagnosis, service, and repair
4.             Drive Systems – Diagnosis, service,
and repair
5.             Bearings – Diagnosis,
service, and repair
6.             Fluid Couplings & Clutches –
Diagnosis, service, and repair
7.             Conveyor Systems – Diagnosis, service,
and repair
8.             Structural Components, Accessories and
Attachments – Diagnosis, service, and repair
 
The
specialized skills acquired through education, and/or work experience needed for
a Millwright instructor are:
Post-secondary
education in mechanical / electrical engineering degree and five years
experience as a Millwright – or - Certificate as
a journeyman Millwright from a recognized equipment manufacturer, state
operated apprentice system, or technical training college and 5 years
experience Completion of
a program in instruction technology and course development In addition
specialized programs which lead to proficiencies in: Analytical
Thinking, Concern for Safety & Environment, Customer Success
Orientation, Cultural Sensitivity, and Team Leadership.  
The
key areas of Millwright instructor decision-making responsibility are:
The design,
equipping, and operation of Millwright training workshops. Adjusting the
rates and means by which learning programs are delivered to learners’
rates of progress.

The physical demands and
work environment that are representative of what a Millwright Instructor may
encounter while performing the essential functions of this job are:.
·          Able
to work safely in a desert mining environment subject to loud noise,
vibration, dust and diesel exhaust, and insect and water born health hazards.
·          Capable
of carrying 15 kilograms for extended distances.
·          Capable
of sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
·          Capable
of wearing appropriate safety equipment for long periods.
·          Capable
of working at heights and in confined places.
