Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.

To provide designs, plans, and measurement data to support engineers. To follow established policies, practices, and procedures  when completing work assignments. To produce results that accurately define
mine operations and can be used for planning and production support.
1.
Working with close supervision, prioritizes, schedules, and plans assigned
survey jobs


§   Responsible
for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of survey services


§   Answers
queries and handles requests related to survey services


§   Follows
established policies and procedures related to survey services and complies with
established methodologies and quality standards


§   Escalates
issues requiring advanced expertise or knowledge about the broader business impact
of decisions. Works with mentor on more advanced issues


§   Prepares
standard reports and completes documentation related to survey services


§   May
provide analysis of work outcomes with guidance from immediate supervisor and
/or a mentor


§   Provides
accurate line and grade to development crews in a timely manner


§   Provides
stopes, surveys, and CMS surveys to the planning group and operations in a
timely manner


§   Ensures
mine plans are executed to meet regulatory requirements


§   Prepares
mark ups / stakes; establishes survey control in field and issues drawings for excavation
/ construction


§   Provides
survey marks to allow development of the mine to correct dimensions and grade


§   Maintains
and ensures integrity of survey data through check surveys and calibration of instrumentation


§   Other
duties as required


2.
Maintains records for the survey team


§   Ensures
records are up to date, in the required format, accurate, and produced on time


§   Maintains
reference material according to regulations and policies


§   Assists
Chief Surveyor to survey, calculate, and check month-end production figures


§   Updates
emergency response plans showing refuge chambers and escape ways


3.
Performs routine analysis


§   Analyzes
information related to survey services which may include generating basic
reports, reviewing them for accuracy, and monitoring overall quality


§   Assists
with preparing reports of analytical results



§   7+ years experience in similar roles on small and large
production drills; 


§   Technician Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent


§   Additional educational or technical training


§   Previous experience with a local and expatriate workforce;


§   A commitment to developing and supporting a safe and
effective  workplace;


§   An appreciation and awareness of working in a foreign country with
cultural sensitivities;


§   French speaking would be advantageous but not essential


§   Previous experience in remote mining operations preferably
Africa


§   Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions required


§   Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing


§   Ability to work with others in a team environment
