The Kinross Corporate Head Office is located in downtown Toronto and supports Kinross operations and projects worldwide. Corporate functions include Finance, Procurement, Health & Safety, Human Resources, IT and Investor Relations.

Purpose of Role 

Reporting to the Project Director, the role is responsible for managing of all infrastructure related activities for the Tasiast Project in Mauritania from Early Works program stage through  project execution and up to and including the handover to Operations .  The Infrastructure scope includes bulk  earthworks, non-process buildings, RO water plant, all utility (water, power and other ) networks outside of Process and Power Plants, roads and other infrastructure, temporary facilities (refurbished construction camp, offices etc.) as well as temporary Beach Landing facility to receive pre-Assembled Units (PAU) barge shipments in Nouadhibou Free Zone.  The Infrastructure Project Manager will support the Project Director in terms of engineering, contract formation, site construction management, tie-ins, pre-commissioning, assistance with commissioning and final contractual close out of all related contracts.  The Infrastructure Project Manager will also be responsible for interfacing and alignment with Kinross Operations and Regional Management in terms of the aforementioned areas of responsibility with a particular focus on the seamless interface and tie-ins with the existing mine operating facilities. Strategically, the role requires the Project Manager to establish the required relationships within Kinross Project Team, Kinross Operations, Kinross Regional Management, Hatch EPCM team, Site Contractors and third parties to ensure successful project execution.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties 
•    Ensure EH&S corporate objectives are embodied during the project engineering phase and adhered to in execution phase.
•    Ensure that all engineering deliverables are produced and reviewed on time.
•    Ensure that key infrastructure construction activities on site such as earthworks, underground services and roads are completed prior to the main process plant construction 
•    Ensure appropriate and qualified personnel are in place and organized in an efficient and effective manner to execute all project activities.
•    Establish capital budgets for the area of responsibility and ensure that it is consistent with Kinross’s established financial guidelines and business planning process and project activities. 
•    Work with Site Manager and EPCM Construction Manager of the Tasiast Expansion Project to ensure safe and quality works for all infrastructure activities.
•    Work with EPCM Construction Manager and Pre-commissioning Manager to ensure the scope of work is executed in a timely and efficient manner and turned over to the Operations in a good working order.
•    Hold monthly/weekly progress/feedback meetings in all areas of responsibility and provide input into the monthly project report.
•    Work with Kinross Operations management to collaboratively manage the project tie-ins in all brownfield areas of the works

Reporting and Communication
Establish communications systems and procedures between project implementation personnel, site operations, senior management, Kinross Operations and Kinross Regional Management to ensure progress is reported, cost status are communicated in a timely, consistent and accurate manner and the problem areas identified pro-actively to allow their timely resolution.

Work Location
•    During the project engineering phase of the project – Hatch office in Oakville, Ontario, Johannesburg and Mumbai as well as regular visits to Tasiast.
•    During the project construction phase of the project  – on site in Tasiast
•    During the project commissioning  phase of the project  – on site in Tasiast
•    During the project close out phase of the project  – Hatch Office in Oakville, Ontario

Scope of Responsibility & Complexity 
•    Responsible for timely and on budget completion of a project engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning  activities in his area of responsibility
•    Support permitting efforts in the area of PAU units road transport
•    Support commissioning phase in areas of responsibility
•    Control scope, budget and schedule of works in his responsibility
•    Close out of all relevant contracts
Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements
•    Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline
•    +15 years of related  multi-disciplinary experience in the areas of project management
•    Previous similar experience in large projects in third world countries with North African experience being  an asset
•    Language skills in English with French with Arabic a plus

Required Technical Knowledge
•    Prior site infrastructure area management experience with the third world country expat labour forces preferably in Islamic cultural environment.

Required Experience
•    Must have prior experience in infrastructure management of  large projects form the early engineering works throughout  execution phases (through to commissioning and demobilization)
•    Experience in managing a large site with multiple religious and ethnic groups
